This was a bit terrifying and required a fair amount of effort to pull through the in a reasonably straight line. The goal was to split the board down the middle without losing too much material and I figured the narrow bandsaw blade would have been a thinner cut than a table-saw. Although that's true in theory, the movement of the bandsaw blade through the wood is somewhat erratic, ultimately requiring the removal of nearly the same amount of material by the time the planing and smoothing processes are completed.
These days I mostly just slice both ends with a table saw and only use the bandsaw to cut away whatever remains in the middle.
